  • Update your PS4.
  • Initialize your PS4.

Update Your PS4

To update your PS4, you’ll want to follow these instructions after turning the console on:

  1. Head all the way to the right of the console’s menu, and select the Settings option.
  2. Now, go to the System Software option, followed by the System Software Update and Settings option.
  3. Here, select the Update System software option, and you’ll be notified if there is an update to be made.

Initialize Your PS4

If you need to instead initialize your PS4, then follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you create a backup of your PS4 as initializing it removes all the data.
  2. Once the backup is done, head into the Settings and go to Initialization.
  3. Here, select the Initialize PS4 option.
