iciHaiti - Music Day : Message from Prime Minister Fils-Aimé

On June 21, World Music Day, Haiti joins in the celebration. Our musicians are present in the streets, in studios, on impromptu and international stages. “They are the voices of our pain and our hopes, the guardians of our memory and the beacons of our future. They make our collective soul vibrate and, even in difficult times, they keep our blue and red flag flying high.”

On this special day, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé extends his warmest congratulations and deep gratitude to all the musicians of Haiti, both here and abroad.

He also pays tribute to all the cultural workers, sound engineers, managers, technicians, producers, dancers, writers, and visual artists who, whether in the shadows or in the spotlight, build day after day this invisible but powerful bulwark : Haitian culture.

In Haiti, music is much more than an art form :

– It is a refuge for those who have nothing left;

– A peaceful weapon against violence;

– A path to social advancement for our youth;

– A cry for life, a cry for dignity.

In every note played, in every voice raised, there is living proof that our people do not give up. That hope is not dead. That beauty still exists, even in the midst of chaos.

On this June 21, the Government reaffirms its commitment to supporting the vital forces of culture and calls for solidarity around our artists, the pillars of our national identity.

Long live Haitian music,

Long live our artists,

Long live Haiti.”
