Integrated Approaches for Sexual Health Education

DESCRIPTION: This two-part training series will explore comprehensive, integrated approaches to sex education for youth, with a focus on the needs of diverse groups. The first session, Healthy Sexuality in America with Erica Smith, will discuss the importance of comprehensive sex education for people of every age from children to adults, what topics should be covered for the promotion of ideal sexual health, best practices for providing sexuality education, and how purity culture plays a role in America’s experience of sexual health. The second session, Integrating Sex Education in Social Work with Black Girls with Nhakia Outland, will focus on using an integrated care model to address the gaps in sex education for Black girls, emphasizing the crucial role social workers play in providing effective and culturally relevant sexual health education. Together, these trainings will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to support healthy sexual development in young people, with an emphasis on inclusivity and holistic care.
