How Much Our 8 Day African Safari Cost (Budget Breakdown)

Here’s exactly how much we spent on an 8 day self driving safari in Kruger National Park.

🚗 Our rental car was $564 but we used credit card points to cover the cost of the rental to $0 🙌

⛽ $180 spent on other car related goods like gas, tolls, and a tip for plugging our flat tire 🙈

🎟️ We got the annual wild pass for $363. This is an annual couples pass for South Africa National parks, so we used it a lot more than just Kruger!

🏨 For our accommodations we stayed in the bungalows at the park’s rest camp for $616. You can find tent camping spots for cheaper or you can get even fancier bungalows for more!

🌯 Groceries for lunches, dinners, or eating out $261. We mostly cooked our own food and the rest camps have a fairly good food selection!

🤸‍♀️ Activities including 5 different game drives $220 (we may have gone a little overboard on the game drives 😅)

Miscellaneous goods like charcoal, postcards, and a few souvenirs – $27.

Bringing our total costs for two people to $1,667. Without points: $2,231.
