iciHaiti - FAES : Large-scale humanitarian aid operation

From Saturday, June 21st to Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) launched a large-scale humanitarian aid operation to provide a concrete response to the emergency faced by thousands of families in dire need.

During these four days, 5,250 food and sanitation kits were distributed to as many households in targeted neighborhoods of the capital. Among the key points of this operation was an additional site, the OPL premises in Bois-Verna (Fire Department), where 490 additional kits were distributed as reinforcements.

In the streets of Lalue, Delmas, and Turgeau, beneficiaries turned out in large numbers, sometimes as early as dawn, hoping to receive modest but vital aid : a few kilos of rice, oil, soap, and other basic products. For them, these packages represent much more than one-time assistance. They are a lifeline.

The operation, supported by rigorous logistics, prevented overflow despite the large crowds. Field agents, volunteers, supervisors, and institutional partners worked hand in hand to ensure the smooth and fair distribution of the bags.

“Every family mattered. Every bag mattered,” said a FAES official in charge of coordination.

FAES does not present this action as an end in itself. It is part of a series of interventions planned to relieve the communities hardest hit by the crisis. Because while this emergency aid is one-off, poverty is entrenched.

“This is a first step, but more will be needed. We remain mobilized,” the institution stated in a post-distribution statement.
