Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo’s deal was due to run out at the end of this month, but he has put pen to paper on a two-year extension to keep him at the Saudi Pro League club until 2027.
He had fuelled speculation over his future after Al-Nassr’s final match of the season by posting on social media: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written”, before later hinting he had no plans to leave.
A switch to one of the teams competing in the Club World Cup was mooted, but did not come to fruition.
Ronaldo first joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 after terminating his contract with Manchester United and has since scored 99 goals in 111 appearances in all competitions and won the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.
The 40-year-old also confirmed the deal on his social media, with the caption: “A new chapter begins. Same passions, same dream. Let’s make history together.”
Ronaldo won the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for the second successive season with 25 goals, having netted 35 times to top the goalscoring charts in 2023-24.
Since making his debut for Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has scored more Pro League goals than any other player, with 74 to his name in 77 matches.
Ronaldo’s goals have come from a total expected goals (xG) tally of 67.1, averaging a goal every 90.6 minutes – the best ratio of any player in double figures in that span.
Earlier in June, he played his part as Portugal beat Spain to win the Nations League final.
