We finally got a detailed look at Title Update 2, the next major free update coming to Monster Hunter Wilds very soon. Capcom dedicated a chunky segment of its June Spotlight showcase livestream to the upcoming patch, offering many details to dig into.

To begin with, we got a proper release date for Title Update 2. It’s going to arrive early on Monday, June 30 after a few hours of maintenance that will bring the game offline.

Title Update 2 has several main components that are each exciting in their own right. The biggest news, of course, is the addition of new monsters. We’re getting Lagiacrus, as well as Seregios.

Lagiacrus heralds the arrival of underwater combat in Wilds, as a portion of that fight could take place underwater where you won’t have free access to your weapon. To take it on, you’ll need to have completed the main mission A World Turned Upside Down, and the side mission Forest Doshaguma – available at Hunter Rank 31 or above.

Seregios will also be available at Hunter Rank 31 or higher, after you’ve completed the same A World Turned Upside Down main mission. Both Lagiacrus and Seregios come with new armor sets for the Hunter, as well as Palico, to craft from their materials. There are also Tempered (8 Star) versions of the two of them that you’ll be able to find roaming around at HR 41 or above.

TU2 will also introduce the Arch-tempered variant of Uth Duna, though that won’t be available until July 30 as part of an Event Quest and free Challenge Quest. This ultra-challening version is available at HR 50 and above, and comes with new equipment to craft, too.

While on the subject of crafting, TU2 is finally adding layered weapons, essentially letting you keep the stats of the weapon you like while changing its look to match that of any other. To use a weapon as your new layer, you must craft the final weapon in any tree. You can also use Artian Weapons as layer, but you’ll need to fully reinforce the one you want – and it has to be a Rarity 8.

Elsewhere in TU2, you can expect a host of smaller features, such as the ability to change your main handler from Alma to Erik, as well as have one more support hunter (who uses a Sword & Shield) to call upon.

While not immediately available at the update’s release, TU2 includes the next Wilds seasonal event – the Festival of Accord: Flamefete. This limited-time event will be available July 23-August 6, and it’ll offer players a chance to obtain some new armor, camp decorations, and gestures. The Grand Hub will change appearance to reflect the new theme, of course, and you’ll even find some special event meals at the cantina.

Capcom also confirmed that Title Update 3 is set to arrive later this September, bringing a new monster to the game alongside the next seasonal edition of Festival of Accord.

Title Update 2 arrives at a turbulent period for Wilds, Capcom’s biggest-ever launch, and the largest for a Monster Hunter game. In recent weeks, the game’s popularity has plummeted on Steam, reaching daily player averages that sit below 2018’s Monster Hunter World, and its Steam user review rating has taken turn for the worse, currently sitting at Overwhelmingly Negative.

It’s going to be very interesting to see whether Title Update 2 can right the ship, or at least improve sentiment amongst players.
