Attention all members and visitors: Over the past week, our website has been subjected to a severe spam-powered denial-of-service type attack. This may affect your experience on our site.
This attack has seriously impaired the functionality of our website and blunted our mission to deliver uncensored climate change facts to the public. On one hand, it is a powerful validation that the uncensored climate facts we share on climate consequences and timetables are causing the world’s fossil fuel polluters a real crisis.
On the other hand, this is a huge workload and a significant burden for our all-volunteer team.
And, it is not this kind of spam.
I do not believe these attacks are pure coincidence because very shortly after we began an enhanced promotion to victims of climate change consequences, helping them file lawsuits against the global fossil fuel cartel for climate damages and losses, the attacks began and hit hard! For years, we have never experienced anything like this before.
I also do not believe this is a coincidence because a few months ago, we were also informed by someone sympathetic to our cause in Washington D.C. that they had overheard some fossil fuel lobbyists at a restaurant bar saying that of all the climate change educational websites on the internet, ours was the one they hated the most.
That information, at the time, also reminded me of a famous Mark Twain quote: “You can tell a lot about a person [or an organization] by who their enemies are.”
Anyway…
Here is what the attacks on our website look like.
1. Most of our comment fields were spammed with all kinds of links and porn. We finally stopped that by closing down all website comment fields. Now, our real members and subscribers can no longer comment on anything!
2. Then the attackers reevaluated and moved to a new vulnerability and target. To undermine our income, our ability to recruit new volunteers, and to stop our critical climate emergency petition, they targeted our new subscriber sign-up form, our volunteer sign-up form, and our Climate Change Emergency petition signing form.
They filled these forms with so much spam that they became all but useless. These attacks were so effective that even Google sent us a notice stating that our website had been hacked and would no longer be indexed by Google. This inability to be indexed would make it more difficult for search engines to find us and our climate change emergency analysis and articles.
If you’re not certain why the global fossil fuel cartel would consider Job One for Humanity the most hated climate change educational website, I suggest you look at the links below, which cover:
1. The fossil fuels cartel’s 60 years of climate change disinformation and misinformation.
2. An article that helps victims of climate change, who are the innocent victims of the toxic and polluting products of the global fossil fuel cartel, get full financial restitution for the climate change damages they have suffered.
3. A very detailed online mock trial of the ongoing crimes of the global fossil fuel cartel designed to bring lawyers, individuals, and businesses, city, state, and national government administrators up to speed on the cartel’s nefarious, illegal, and immoral activities.
We have been overwhelmed with continuous work, and there is still much to be done.
What are we doing
We are working closely with our wonderful hosting server and website software company, and they are diligently taking every possible step to mitigate the attacks and help us clean up the damage.
We really appreciate their assistance. It’s a real mess, and it’s going to take some time yet to clean up.
What do these website attacks mean to YOU and Job One?
1. Most of our volunteer staff are focused on addressing these attacks and removing all spam and other malicious content from our website, in collaboration with our dedicated website server host.
2. We have fallen behind in our analysis and publication work. We had a major upgrade coming out for our Climate Change Doomsday Clock, which is a real shocker, but it has gone onto the back burner. We have also fallen behind in other articles, which are currently awaiting publication.
3. We are incurring additional and extraordinary security expenses that we do not have the resources to cover.
4. We are still unable to sign up new members or volunteers or gather more signatures on our climate emergency petition, due to the attacks. We have to sort through all the spam to find who’s real and who isn’t, and that’s not easy; it’s very time-consuming, regardless.
What YOU can do to help
1. If you have a technical background and can handle tedious hours of deleting spam, as well as other methods to mitigate spam-powered denial-of-service type attacks, please volunteer. We’ll see if we can utilize your high-level security skills to help clean up this mess.
2. Please donate to help cover the additional security costs being incurred to return us to normal operations and block these attacks.
3. Please do not let the actions of faceless censorship block out and silence accurate climate change facts that the global fossil fuel cartel hates and the world’s public needs. Become a donor at any donation level to help us cover increased security and clean-up expenses and support the unstoppable voice of our uncensored,100% publicly funded climate change think tank by clicking here.
4. If you’re financially unable to donate, at least don’t let the cowardly forces of censorship stop our climate change education. Visit our Share Tool, select some links from our website, and share them with your network so that these “anonymous” attacks do not block our climate emergency message. If the spammers have somehow managed to compromise our Share Tool, grab a good link from our website and send it to your network with a brief note.
Please do not let the censorship forces blunt and stop our uncensored climate change, emergency message, and the fossil fuel cartels’ responsibility for climate change damages! At least, help us by Vgisitn isitingv our Share Tooli, selecting some links from our website, and sharing them with your network so that these “anonymous” attacks do not block our climate emergency message.
Sincerely,
Lawrence Wollersheim
Executive Director Job One for Humanity
