The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress after the party’s Tamil Nadu unit posted a distorted map of India during a promotional campaign for a book against the BJP government, as the 2026 Assembly elections.

The Tamil Nadu Congress Research Department published a new book and launched a campaign called ‘100 Days, 100 Places’ to “expose the lies of the BJP government to the people”. The event held today was inaugurated by Dr A Chellakumar, Permanent Invitee of the All India Congress Committee.

“On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Congress Research Department, the campaign titled #100Days100Places will begin tomorrow to expose the lies of the BJP government to the people,” said the department on its official X handle.

The cover of the book titled “Jumla Government’s false facts and realities”, prepared by the Research Department, showed Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir as part of Pakistan and Aksai Chin as part of China, which drew the BJP’s ire.

Sharing the tweet, BJP IT department in-charge Amit Malviya said, “There is something truly sinister and deranged about the Congress Party. Despite repeated public outrage and national shame, Congress continues to deliberately use distorted maps of India — maps that cede parts of Jammu & Kashmir to China and Pakistan.”

“Now, the Tamil Nadu Congress has followed the same anti-national pattern. On one of its official X handles — the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee Research Department — a distorted and misleading map of India was shamelessly used to promote a party campaign. This is not a mistake. It is a premeditated political position,” he added.

This came days after the Congress party found itself at the centre of a controversy by sharing a similarly distorted map of India, while criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy. The use of the map sparked backlash, with critics accusing the party of aligning with Pakistani narratives.

Last year, the Karnataka Congress came under fire for displaying the distorted map of the country ahead of the Congress Centenary celebration of its inaugural 1924 session in December. The BJP said it reflected the mindset of the Congress party and announced protests.
