William Gallas has admitted he has “serious doubts” over whether Chelsea linked Emi Martinez would be a good signing for the Blues.

Chelsea have already been busy this summer with the signings of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, with more names expected to follow.

The Blues haven’t ruled out adding another attacker, whilst they are said to be in the market for a centre back to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad ahead of next season.

Gallas has doubts over Emi Martinez

Supporters would love to see Chelsea sign a new goalkeeper given their well documented issues between the sticks over the last couple of seasons.

The Blues had the opportunity to sign AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, but weren’t prepared to meet the £20-£25m valuation.

Chelsea aren’t expected to return for Maignan this summer, but signing the France international on a free in 2026 hasn’t been ruled out.

Aston Villa’s Martinez is another name to be linked, with Manchester United also said to be interested in the World Cup winner.

Martinez didn’t have the best campaign for Villa and is a candidate to leave despite signing a new contract in December, and Gallas has now had his say on the Argentina international.

“I have some serious doubts about whether he would be a good fit for Chelsea,” he said as cited on X.com.

“I don’t know if he’s got the right profile to be the goalkeeper of Chelsea. When I think about his antics, I just don’t think he would be a positive addition to the club.

“People talk about his personality, his passion, I’m not sure that is a good fit for the club. I don’t think he would be the right goalkeeper.

“Chelsea need a goalkeeper that is as good as him or maybe better, but with a different profile. Someone that does their job without doing all of the other stuff that Martinez does.”

Djordje Petrovic set to leave

Chelsea fans would liked to have seen Djordje Petrovic have a run in goal following his brilliant loan spell at Strasbourg.

However, the 25-year-old was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup and it’s now likely he will leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are said to have a gentleman’s agreement in place where the Serbia international can leave for an offer of £25m.

Petrovic isn’t short of suitors and is thought to be closing in on move to Sunderland, which would come as a surprise.
