A worthy challenger to the HDR.
The Victus XMR sniper rifle from Modern Warfare 2 just got a serious upgrade in the Warzone season four Reloaded update, and it’s now a strong contender to replace the fan-favorite HDR.
Thanks to the mid-season patch, the Victus XMR can now deliver a one-shot headshot at infinite range, giving it massive potential in long-range gunfights. This change puts it right up there with the HDR in terms of raw power but with its own unique advantages.
If you’ve been running the HDR for a while and feel like switching things up without sacrificing lethality, the Victus is definitely worth a shot. Here’s the best loadout to get the most out of this high-damage sniper in Warzone.
Best Victus XMR Warzone loadout
Best Victus XMR build attachments

Slot | Attachment |
---|---|
Optic | Corio 13X VRS (7.0x magnification, 15.0x magnification toggle) |
Muzzle | Sonic Suppressor XL (undetectable by radar, bullet velocity, damage range) |
Barrel | Mack 8 33.5 Super (damage range, bullet velocity, firing aim stability, hip fire accuracy) |
Rear Grip | Bruen Q900 Grip (sprint to fire speed, aim down sight speed) |
Ammunition | .50 Cal High Velocity (bullet velocity) |
Now that the Victus XMR has infinite one-shot headshot range, you’ll want to bump up its bullet velocity to stay deadly at long distances. That’s where the Sonic Suppressor XL, Mack 8 33.5 Super barrel, and most importantly, the .50 Cal High Velocity rounds come into play. This setup pushes your bullet velocity to 994.4 m/s. Sure, it’s not quite HDR-level, but it’s more than enough to stay lethal even past 100 meters.
The suppressor and barrel also boost damage range, so even if you miss that one-tap headshot, you’re still landing heavy hits. Plus, the suppressor keeps you off the radar by silencing that mini-map ping.
Since you’ll be picking off enemies from a distance, the Corio 13X VRS is a great pick for its clear-sight picture and smooth magnification, making it easier to line up those precision shots.
To round out the build, throw on the Bruen Q900 Grip for a snappier ADS speed. It’s noticeably faster than the HDR, letting you lock on targets and making your follow-up shots quicker, which can make a huge difference in long-range engagements.
Best Victus XMR class setup

- Secondary weapon: LC10
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: Long Barrel
- Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
- Magazine: Extended Mag II
- Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
- Melee: Personal preference
- Tactical: Smoke Grenade
- Lethal: Impact Grenade
- Perk 1: Survivor
- Perk 2: Tracker
- Perk 3: Birdseye
- Wildcard: Overkill
Since MW2 and MW3 guns don’t support the Gunfighter wildcard, your best option is to go with Overkill so you can carry a reliable secondary. And for that slot, the LC10 is still a top pick. Even with all the recent buffs to other SMGs, the LC10 holds its own as one of the best in the game. The build shown above focuses on improving recoil control, handling, and effective damage range, making it perfect for close to mid-range fights and a great complement to your long-range Victus loadout.
Survivor and Tracker are still the go-to perks in the first two slots, enhancing your survivability and enemy tracking. As for the third perk, Birdseye is a game-changer for snipers. It expands your UAV radius, reveals enemy direction, and even spots players equipped with Ghost, letting you scout targets more easily from a distance, whether you’re watching from a rooftop, window, or high ground position.
