Jennifer Aniston’s Flip-Flops Are Trending Summer Shoes

There are certain places I expect to see flip-flops: the beach, pool, and gym locker room. So this summer, I was a little caught-off guard when I saw them in the wild; to my surprise, the practical shoes are having a major fashion moment. Gigi Hadid confirmed this for me when she wore a bright orange pair with a gem-adorned tweed dress, and Jennifer Aniston cemented their status as one of summer’s ‘It’ shoes when she posted her chic (yes, I said chic) brown flip-flops to Instagram.

I will admit I was a little hesitant to embrace this trend—not because the classic style isn’t cute, but because I spent so many years wearing and breaking ridiculously cheap pairs (shocking, but a $1 sandal doesn’t last). But after seeing how versatile the easy shoe can be, I’m down to give it another try, I just plan to be a little pickier about which ones I grab. Below, shop the nine styles I’m eyeing, including flip-flops from celebrity-favorite brands like Havaianas and Tkees, and even a shopper-loved Amazon pair that’s on sale for just $12

9 Trending Summer Flip-Flops

Rihero Square Flip-Flops

Amazon

Aniston wore simple brown flip-flops with thin straps—this $29 pair from Amazon looks nearly identical. The sandals are actually quite elegant (or, as elegant as flip-flops get) thanks to the uncomplicated design and faux-leather construction. Because of that, you can wear these more casually, think jeans and shorts, or dress them up a bit with breezy summer dresses.

Havaianas x Gigi Hadid Slim Square Flip-Flops

Havaianas

Hadid wore this orange-sherbet colored pair from her collaboration with Havaianas, the brand Aniston also wears. This style’s vibrant, sunny look practically screams summer; they’re the perfect way to bring color to an otherwise simple outfit this season.

Look, I was a little dubious of a shoe this cheap, but the now-$12 flip-flop’s more than 15,000 perfect ratings have calmed my nerves. Fans say that they’re “impressed” by the “inexpensive [yet] high quality” shoe’s comfort and cushiness.

Old Navy Faux-Leather Flip-Flop

Old Navy

Metallic shoes are the outfit-elevating style everyone from Martha Stewart to Taylor Swift has been wearing this season, and this silver pair from Old Navy is the most practical way to approach the trend. The shoe is comfortable and easy to wear but, thanks to that mirror-like color and chic square toe, can still dress up an outfit.

Havaianas Fusion Square Logo Flip-Flops

Nordstrom

Havaiana’s Fusion flip-flops are at the top of my wishlist. I love the square toe and multi-colored footbed. I’m partial to the pink and orange pair, but you can also snag these in more low-key combinations including black and white, brown and terracotta, and a golden white and tan.

Tkees Foundation Flip-Flops

Zappos

Tkees is the comfy-chic sandal brand celebrities and InStyle editors swear by, and its classic Foundation flip-flops (another good lookalike for Aniston’s sandals) are on rare sale at Zappos. While $54 might seem steep for flip-flops, these are crafted from real leather and have a soft, cushiony footbed. So, IMO, they’re well-worth the price.

FP Collection Gia Grommet Flip-Flops

Free People

A style I’ve been seeing non-stop this summer is metal-accented sandals. These leather flip-flops from Free People, which have gold grommets along the straps and a studded trim, are the easiest way to wear the cool-girl trend.

Gap Jelly Flip-Flops

GAP

Jelly shoes are another one of summer’s biggest trends. If you’re into the nostalgic style, you’ll want to grab Gap’s jelly flip-flops while they’re half-off. You can snag them in blue (my favorite) and pink.

Seychelles Instant Crush Flip-Flops

Nordstrom Rack

Seychelles’s Instant Crush flip-flops, on sale for just $20 at Nordstrom Rack, are finished with a small bow. The detail is incredibly cute but, thanks to its miniature size, pretty subtle. I prefer them in this outfit-elevating black, but you can also grab them in white, beige, silver, and gold.
