France’s Studio TF1 has appointed former 42 and Universal International Studios executive David O’Donoghue as EVP International.

Based out of London, he will join the group at the end of July and report to Pierre Branco, CEO of Studio TF1.

The appointment comes amid Branco’s ongoing strategy to expand the international footprint of Paris-based production and distribution group Studio TF1 (formerly Newen Studios).

O’Donoghue will be responsible for collaborating with the group’s production companies operating in 11 markets internationally on the growth of their businesses. He will also lead Studio TF1’s global IP strategy, and driving co-productions and business development opportunities worldwide in collaboration with the wider group.

The experienced entertainment executive was most recently COO of 42, the trans-Atlantic management and production group based in London and LA, where he was responsible for operations and business development across the portfolio.

Prior to this, he was Head of Studio for Universal International Studios, where he was responsible for the division’s business operations and instrumental in its growth strategy, bolstering the studio’s stellar production roster and expanding its co-production business in the UK and Europe.

He previously served as COO and then as Joint Managing Director of Carnival Films, as it grew to become one of the UK’s leading scripted producers with global franchises including Downton Abbey and The Last Kingdom. Prior to that he was EVP, Business Affairs at Universal International Studios.

“David’s experience with major players like Universal Studios and Carnival Films, along with his in-depth knowledge of the English and American media markets, will be invaluable in accelerating our international expansion and IP Strategy,” said Branco.

“His arrival underscores STUDIO TF1’s ambition to further establish itself as a global leader in the media industry.”
