As the iPad continues to blur the line between tablet and laptop, the accessories designed for it have followed suit – especially keyboards. Logitech, long known for its thoughtful, high-quality peripherals, is leaning into this shift with its new Flip Folio keyboard case. The Flip Folio reimagines how users interact with Apple’s tablets, offering a level of flexibility that’s rare even among premium options.
At first glance, the Flip Folio resembles a standard keyboard case. But where it differs is in the ability to detach the keyboard from the case itself. This modular approach gives users a setup that feels more like a traditional desktop computer – the iPad can be positioned farther back, at eye level, while the keyboard stays closer for ergonomic typing. It’s an ideal configuration for long work sessions, travel, or even creative projects like sketching or video editing with an Apple Pencil.
When you’re done typing, the keyboard doesn’t need to be stashed in a separate bag or drawer. Instead, it magnetically reattaches and tucks neatly behind the iPad, integrating seamlessly into the case. This clever magnetic system not only makes the keyboard easy to store, but also keeps the overall package slim and travel-friendly.
Logitech has also equipped the Flip Folio with an adjustable kickstand. This gives users the flexibility to place the iPad at a wide range of angles, from upright for viewing to nearly flat for drawing or writing. Unlike many iPad stands and folio cases, the Flip Folio supports both landscape and portrait orientations – a major plus for users who read or write in vertical mode, such as developers, editors, or anyone dealing with long-form content.
The comes in two sizes, designed to match the 11-inch and 13-inch models of the iPad Air and iPad Pro, with a spacious layout and dedicated shortcut keys for media playback, volume, screen brightness, and more. These shortcuts offer quick access to frequently used functions without digging through menus or Control Center, making the iPad feel more like a traditional laptop.
Although the Flip Folio lacks a trackpad – a feature included in Apple’s Magic Keyboard – that omission may not be a dealbreaker for many users, especially those who prefer using touch or an Apple Pencil for navigation. And for the price, it’s a tradeoff worth considering: $160 for the 11-inch model and $180 for the 13-inch, compared to Apple’s Magic Keyboard, which starts at $269 and climbs even higher depending on the model.
The Flip Folio can be paired with up to three different devices at once – such as your iPad, iPhone, and Mac – and lets you switch between them with ease. This makes it an appealing option for anyone juggling multiple screens throughout the day.
The Flip Folio is available in a range of color options: Graphite, Midnight Black, Pale Grey, and Lilac, and Sand. The case has a premium look and feel, with materials that echo Logitech’s other designs like the Combo Touch and MX series, while maintaining a professional aesthetic.
The Logitech Flip Folio is available now at the Logitech website, though not all colors are shipping right away.
