My favourite smartphones of the year include flagships like the OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, foldables like the Oppo Find N5 and camera beasts like the Vivo X200 Ultra. But what’s your own choice for the best phone right now?
If you need an affordable mobile, good news. I’ve tested a ton of mid-range and budget-friendly releases in 2025, including dependable camera phones like the Pixel 9a. The Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro are stunning value, as is that CMF Phone 2 Pro. And then there’s the Honor 400 Lite, if you want something that’s like an iPhone but less crap and cheaper.
Gaming phones have been thin on the ground so far, as have foldables. But expect a few more to launch in the latter half of 2025, at which point I’ll do another best smartphones round-up!
