Arena Collection Fuses Nordic Aesthetics With Mediterranean Style

Søren Rose presents the Arena Collection, delving into the design potential between an amalgam of Scandinavian and Mediterranean styles. Utilizing forms inspired by the strong and dynamic motions of sand, the family of outdoor furnishings is perfectly at home on the patio as they would be in a resort. Back with his second furniture collection, Rose’s Danish sensibility blends beautifully with GANDIABLASCO’s historic Spanish charm. Rounded forms elicit a feeling of relaxation and softness. The offering features a lounger, an armchair, a two-seater sofa, a set of coffee tables, a side table, and a swing – uniquely designed for serenity.

The gently curved panels are crafted similarly to bent ply, a staple in furniture design since the 1950s when it was first developed. Meanwhile, hand-bent aluminum planes are held in space establishing an elegant regularity for visual delight. Beautiful slivers of negative space remain, fashioned from slats of metal with air nestled between each one. Large, open, and friendly, these forms take up space unapologetically and we love to see it. GAN upholstery works wonders, taking this collection outdoors with ease. The warm tone of the twill works well with the stone tabletops, creating a cohesive and luxurious look.

“One of the main functions of Arena is to establish a dialogue between the built environment and nature,” says Rose. The Arena collection exists outside of trends and a weekly fashion cycle, honed by decades of design history and knowledge of processes that came before.

The perfectly balanced forms with generous fillets along the base and top offer a plush, comfortable, and inviting feel. Meanwhile, the slats shaping the body, held delicately with a relatively small band, temper each piece’s size. This adds to the lightness to the collection shedding unnecessary bulk that could weigh it down. Modern humans frequently find themselves cut off from the natural world, so blurring the line between indoor and outdoor is now more necessary than ever.

“From the graceful curves of the seating to the sleek simplicity of their components, every aspect of the Arena collection exudes sophistication and durability, making it a perfect choice for any setting,” shares Rose.
