She explores the specifics of collagen powders, which are popular as they can be added to smoothies – as can liquid collagen – but come in bulk containers, which makes them inconvenient for on-the-go use, unlike Absolute Collagen sachets. Collagen powders are also inconsistent in their dosage, as collagen is made of different sized molecules and the larger ones tend to fall towards the bottom of the container.
Collagen supplement pills, meanwhile, are easy and convenient to take in a similar way to our Absolute Collagen liquid sachets, but often have additional chemical fillers and binders within them. The largest drawback of collagen pills, however, is the reduced absorption of the collagen. Our bodies can only absorb around 40% as our stomach acid must first break down the hard outer coating of the pill and then separate the ingredients within. Compare this to the absorbable nature of liquid collagen, which results in around 95% absorption by the body.
Additionally, pills and tablets contain a smaller serving of collagen – you’d need to take 16 collagen pills to equal the 8000mg of collagen within an Absolute Collagen sachet, which is a huge difference!
