Using Rock Water Flower Essence for a Deficient Second Chakra

I’m an energy healer and tend to do healing on myself almost every day. And what I notice is that while my upper chakras (4th through 7th) are generally in really good shape, my second chakra and frequently the third chakra are not (with the second being particularly bad.) My inner guidance frequently tells me to play and have more fun. My response is always to draw a blank. “How?,” I think. “What does that even mean? So much of what I love to do is so very far away.”

I used to live so close to the beach I could easily walk there from my house and did so almost every day. I used have a house! And I used to have a garden filled with vegetables, fruit, and flowers. I used to have more time to do art and had an art-centric life. And I lived in a vibrant beach community with moderate temperatures throughout the year, lots of free outdoor activities, close friends, etc. Today we live in an apartment 4 hours from the nearest beach in a very hot summer climate in a place that seems like a small town. My art life has been on pause on and off for quite some time—I work WAY too much to make time for it and got obsessively caught up in the political hellscape in my free time instead. Plus, with family caregiving responsibilities and personal health issues for me and Paul, we have become fairly ascetic in terms of social life—basically still following pandemic lockdown protocols—and it feels hard to let go of that. It’s for good reasons but it’s definitely not what we see most people do. We have a lot of community here, but rarely get together with friends.

All this feels like a big mistake at the moment. But another part of myself says no, it’s just what happens step by step when people are under pressure for a really long time.

To be honest, I haven’t minded the pandemic lockdown part of this life very much. Before the election, Paul and I were two contented peas in a pod (we still are with each other). But it IS time to start to make some changes. I miss the life we used to have before so many things happened. We used to have a lot more fun! I don’t intend to turn my back on the serious things happening in the world. But things have gotten way out of balance.

What This Has to Do with the Second Chakra

Chakras in Hindu and New Age yoga-path philosophy are a way of looking at the human energy system in terms of energy centers that align, more or less, with nerve centers along the spine. The chakras do not operate independently of each other; however, they do offer a type of shorthand for analysis of potential blockages of excess or deficiency that would influence a person’s mind-body-spirit as a whole. Each chakra is associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects.

The Second Chakra is associated with emotional safety (or lack there of). It is associated with creativity, sexuality, sensuality, and emotional expression. In balance, I think of it as being about the sweetness of life—joy, pleasure, and the ability to relaxedly and flexibly operate in the world. The element associated with the Second Chakra is Water. So think: the ability to go with the flow and to move and change as you do so. It’s the ability to adapt—the ability to flow over obstacles or around them or to even change form into, for example, water vapor if the situation calls for it. When the second chakra is deficient, a person is afraid to change and can’t adapt easily and flexibly without a lot of fear! There might be a lack of sensuality or a tendency to choose work over sexual pleasures. The Water element is also associated with emotional expression. (I was complaining last night that I felt like I needed to cry but couldn’t seem to let go of my tears.) A person in this state seems overly self-controlled and disciplined, and that can lead to depression or feeling sorry for yourself.

An excessive Second Chakra (which is not my focus today) leads to the opposite: a lack of self-discipline, an inability to control your emotions, being overly influenced by other people, having a lack of boundaries, sexual addiction or addiction to pleasure in general (partying, constant social interaction, or entertainment), and all the challenges and difficulties that come from that!

Obviously, it is possible to swing from deficiency to excess and back again as a person unsuccessfully tries to balance one imbalance with the other. Ideally, a person would be able to enjoy the pleasures of life without ruining their lives or they would be able to control their behavior when called for and still be able to let go and have fun later.

How Rock Water Can Help with Second Chakra Deficiency

Rock Water is a Bach Flower Remedy that has no flowers in it—only water taken from a spring that has a reputation for healing properties—I wrote about it extensively here. It was specifically recommended by Dr. Edward Bach for people who are overly rigid, self-disciplined, even ascetic. They try way too hard to be “good” or to set a good example to preserve their reputation that they lose track of how to enjoy life and have fun. In many cases, such a person grew up with very high expectations put on them in childhood or found themselves later in life thrust into such a role. Rock Water helps such a person loosen up and relax. It helps shift their perfectionism into something kinder and more loving to themselves so they can partake more often in the pleasurable parts of life. I highly recommend it!

Rock Water can be combined with pretty much any Bach Flower Essence. Flower essences work on the energetic level and, as I said, the different parts of our energy system do not operate independently of each other! So for my particular issues, I like to use Rock Water combined with Larch and Zinnia in a formula I call Comfort and Joy. (also available as a scented spray) This one supports the second, first and third chakras and has made a profound difference in my life. (I need to remember to use it again now!) But you could use it with any flower essence you please if it seems to suit your purpose.

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
