Portable microphone kits from brands like DJI and Rode have become increasingly popular in recent years, thanks in part to the explosion of short-form video content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. Now, Saramonic is throwing its hat into the ring with a wireless microphone system that doesn’t just focus on performance – it’s also sleeker and more stylish. Enter the Saramonic Air.
This new dual-channel microphone system is built with minimalism in mind, offering a clean, modern aesthetic that’s ideal for creators who care about form as much as function. It comes equipped with two compact transmitters (microphones) and a matching receiver, all housed in sleek metal enclosures that are elevated by subtle details – like the eye-catching orange buttons that add a pop.
The transmitters are small enough to clip discreetly onto clothing. While they’re clearly visible in Saramonic’s product shots, their compact size means they can likely be concealed under garments with minimal effort, depending on the outfit and setup.
When not in use, the entire system is stored in a convenient charging case. The case features a transparent lid that offers a clear view of the microphones and receiver inside. This isn’t just for show – the design allows you to check the LED battery indicators at a glance, without needing to open the case. It’s a small but thoughtful detail that adds to the product’s user-friendly appeal.
While we haven’t had the chance to test the Saramonic Air’s audio performance firsthand, it’s evident that considerable attention has been paid to sound quality. The system features intelligent noise cancellation to help reduce ambient sounds like wind or traffic, and it includes a customizable EQ with dedicated voice enhancement modes. A built-in limiter also prevents digital clipping, a crucial feature that helps preserve usable audio for video recordings. These enhancements work quietly in the background, allowing creators to focus on capturing content rather than worrying about settings.
Connectivity is another strong suit for the Saramonic Air. The receiver connects easily to smartphones via USB-C or Lightning, and there’s also a 3.5mm output for cameras and other audio equipment. Impressively, the receiver can output audio to two devices simultaneously. That means you can record directly to a camera while also streaming to a social media platform – or simply maintain a backup recording setup for added peace of mind.
The Saramonic Air starts at $139 and is available for purchase at saramonic.com.
