AEW President Tony Khan isn’t just a wrestling booker—he’s ready to fantasy book pop stars too.
During a recent interview on 1035 KISSFM, Khan was asked to pick a winner in a playful match-up between Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo. He immediately embraced the challenge and laid out the full heel-versus-babyface storyline.
Khan picked Sabrina Carpenter to play the villain role, pointing to her glammed-up presentation and star-power swagger. He compared her to classic heels who might cheat their way to victory with a little help from someone like Taylor Swift.
“It’s a great question. Uh, I think Sabrina Carpenter could be a great villain there and you could build Olivia Rodrigo to be very sympathetic. Sabrina Carpenter dresses like a heel, like a villain, and you could build her up as a star power heel. Eventually, she could become popular—like what you were talking about. But I think Sabrina Carpenter would be like a star power heel, especially with the flashy outfits and things like that.”
When it came time to pick a winner, Khan gave the nod to Sabrina—by any means necessary. “Sabrina Carpenter wins.”
Then, staying true to wrestling logic, he even laid out the exact cheating scenario.
“Yeah—cheating. I think Sabrina Carpenter might sneak it out. Yeah, she borrows like a Taylor Swift, I don’t know, night stick or something like that… microphone. Hit her with a microphone.”
Khan’s humorous booking shows how deeply ingrained wrestling psychology is in his thinking. He booked the pop star match as if it were live on Dynamite—flashy heel, sympathetic face, dirty finish, and all.
