Thankfully, Carl Hansen & Søn is here to raise the bar. Recognizing the need for a wall-mounted desk that saves on space without skimping on style, they’ve teamed up with Danish designer Anker Bak to create the AB019 Wall Desk: a minimalist, thoughtfully-crafted solution that blends into your space rather than stick out like an afterthought.

Designed with compact living in mind, the AB019 Wall Desk takes cues from Bak’s own lifestyle and frequent travels to Japan, where space is at a premium and every inch counts. Made from FSC-certified oak or laminate and mounted with sleek stainless-steel brackets, the design strips everything down to the essentials. But it’s the thoughtful details that elevate it. “People are always at the core of my designs,” Bak shares. “With this desk, I consciously made room for both work and leisure – side by side. When our surroundings adapt to us and our lives, it means we have more time and energy for both work and family. I have first-hand experience of this. That’s why this desk also tries to make the traditionally heavier or industrial desk a completely simple and functional piece that will fit into any home, living room or office.”

Gently rounded edges soften the silhouette, while a subtly sloped front edge offers a comfortable resting place for your arms. Wooden caps on the wall mounts extend the warm materiality down the wall, eliminating any overly industrial feel. For added functionality, a solid oak drawer can be fitted below the desk for storage or placed on top to double as a laptop stand.
