WPSD meteorologists have activated a Weather Authority Alert through this week as a prolonged heat wave moves into the Local 6 region.
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued over Missouri, NW Tennessee, southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky through 7 PM Thursday for heat index values up to 110°. A Heat Advisory has been issued for the rest of Kentucky and Illinois until 7 PM Thursday for heat index readings up to 105°.
This week, a dome of high pressure will shut down rain chances and send high temps into the mid 90s.We may see some rain chances return by the upcoming weekend but would be isolated in coverage.
