Daniel Dubois earned almost £500k per punch despite brutal Usyk knockout
Daniel Dubois earns most money per punch, ranking ahead of legends Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson
After Oleksandr Usyk’s devastating knockout win against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, new research has revealed the boxers who have earned the most money per punch to date.
The study from Tipman Tips analysed the biggest pay-per-view fights that generated 800,000 or more buys worldwide since 2010. Then, using publicly reported purses and Compubox data, the researchers revealed how much money each boxer earned for every punch they landed.
The Wembley showdown may not have ended how Dubois hoped, but the British heavyweight’s earnings per punch now surpass that of Hall of Famers Mayweather, Pacquiao, and even his conqueror Oleksandr Usyk.
The total purse for Saturday’s clash was reported to be £150 million, with Usyk taking home £97.5 million and Dubois pocketing £52.5 million.
Both fighters’ per-punch averages skyrocketed thanks to the massive payday with Usyk landing 57 punches and Dubois landing 35 punches over the five rounds.
Dubois landed just 114 punches across his most high-profile fights to date, earning an estimated £56 million overall. That works out to an eye-watering £491,228 per punch, catapulting him to first place in the rankings.
Usyk, who delivered another clinical performance to stop Dubois in the fifth round, now sits in second place. The Ukrainian has earned an estimated £274.3 million from his top PPV fights, landing 918 punches and bringing his average earnings per punch to £298,802.

The full study reveals that the former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, who retired from boxing in January this year after losing a title fight rematch with Usyk, has earned north of £155 million from his most high-profile fights. The Gypsy King landed 617 punches, which saw him make a whopping £253,906 per punch.
Floyd Mayweather ranks fourth, with the most total earnings of all boxers by far, at a staggering £448.9 million. The 50-0 boxer has landed 617 punches in his most high-profile fights, which results in a £239,358 payday per punch.
Despite only boxing once, Conor McGregor’s cross-over clash with Floyd Mayweather in 2017 earned him just shy of £25 million. With 111 punches landed in the fight, that puts his earnings at £225k per punch and sees him rank fifth,
Anthony Joshua ranks sixth. The British former world champion has earned an estimated £92.4 million from his most high-profile fights, which saw him land 443 punches, for an average of £208,743 per punch.
Mike Tyson ranks seventh with £8.33 million in total earnings and 67 punches landed, giving him an average of £124,342 per punch.
Wladimir Klitschko ranks eighth, with his earnings per punch standing at £115,215. Klitschko is followed by Alexander Povetkin in eighth, with an average of £106,352 per punch.
Manny Pacquiao completes the top 10, despite earning the third-most money of all fighters in the study, at £263 million. But with a hefty 2,720 punches landed, his earnings per punch came in at £96,785.
Commenting on the findings, Fraser Bricknell, Founder at Tipman Tips, said: “Our research highlights just how lucrative elite-level boxing can be, especially when fights reach the scale of global pay-per-view blockbusters.
“Daniel Dubois topping the list shows the remarkable earning power of modern heavyweights, particularly when you consider how few punches he’s needed to land to generate that level of income. With both Usyk and Dubois earning over £1.5 million per punch this weekend, it’s clear the business of boxing is as explosive outside the ring as it is inside it.”
