Mobile filing cabinets are a workplace staple, but German manufacturer mūller tapped designer Mark Braun to reinterpret the traditional mobile pedestal for contemporary settings at home and in the office. He looked to how he and his team collaborate for inspiration. “In our studio we work very flexibly, and move around the room a lot,” Braun says. “We found it exciting to integrate a seating element. It’s a solution that invites you to sit down temporarily and makes the workday more dynamic.”

Offered in two sizes (low or high), Braun envisioned NEXT as a compact piece suitable in apartments or offices where space is limited, and which can serve as both a storage unit and furniture. Easy-glide casters allow users to seamlessly move from one room to the next. The cabinet holds papers or books, plus larger items from backpacks to handbags and laptops.

Belongings can simply – and safely – be tucked away in a lockable compartment under the seat when no longer needed. If an individual needs to take a break, they can rest on the seat surface or casually perch on it during a meeting.

The NEXT trolley, made of metal in a semi-matte finish, is also durable. Specifiers can select any color in the RAL palette, from a sophisticated neutral such as light bronze or a vibrant tint like telemagenta. Contrasting hues and tone-on-tone options are available to complement any type of interior. There are also plenty of add-ons for even more personalization, including a sliding shelf to hold extra objects.

Braun’s debut product for the company, NEXT responds to the ever-changing needs of people, whether in working or living environments. It’s an addition to the line that the mūller team aptly describes as a practical and stylish all-rounder.
