As part of the project to combat gender-based violence (GBV), funded by Canada with support from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Haiti, the Haitian National Police (PNH) organized a training session this week in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS) to strengthen its institutional capacity in GBV.
This training brought together 25 investigators and officers from the Haitian National Police, including 15 women, from several key institutions such as the Delmas 33, Kenscoff, and Pétion-ville police stations, as well as the National Coordination for Women’s Affairs and Gender Management (CNAFQG), the Minors Protection Brigade (BPM), the Educational Community Police (EduPOL), and the Central Directorate of Highway Police (DCPR).
This specialized training focused on sexual violence investigation techniques. It aimed to provide participants with concrete and appropriate tools to better document, treat, and support victims of these serious crimes, while promoting a gender-sensitive police response.
