Patricia Urquiola’s New Riva Collection Flows With Nature

We thought our jaws had already hit the floor with Patricia Urquiola’s last CIMENTO collection, but as it turns out, she wasn’t done sculpting surprises. In collaboration with CIMENTO, the Venice-based brand known for its innovative approach to surface design, the designer (and the brand’s creative director) returns with a new nature-inspired line of furniture and accessories that captures the flowing, ever-shifting rhythm of water. From consoles and coffee tables to sculptural vases, the Riva Collection merges organic form with architectural finesse – expanding both the CIMENTO universe and our idea of what concrete can become.

Nature is never completely still, and like waves breaking onto shore, it’s full of irregular rhythms and subtle shifts. That same energy runs through the Riva collection, where sculptural forms are softened by curved edges and asymmetry. Each piece feels shaped by motion, as if water had played a hand in carving it into its final form.

The collection’s color palette deepens the emotional resonance, drawing from a spectrum of earth- and sky-colored hues. Developed through an intensive process of research and collaboration between Urquiola and the CIMENTO team, the hues range from deep purples and warm browns to soft butter yellow and luminous orange. These shades evoke the ever-shifting light and moods of nature changing throughout the day. It’s a palette that adapts effortlessly to a range of interiors, from contemporary homes to storied spaces in Venice, like the Ca’ di Dio hotel, also designed by Urquiola.

The Riva collection highlights that beauty lies in the irregular – the softened edge, the shifts in color, the textures that can’t be replicated exactly. Urquiola embraces the idea that perfection isn’t static or sterile, but dynamic and evolving. Just like nature itself, these pieces flow rather than conform, celebrating the movement, transformation, and flow of nature.
