Despite Fabrizio Romano’s ‘here we go’ soon call on Jorrel Hato on Tuesday night, it looks like Chelsea are still playing hard ball with Ajax.
But will it pay off?
The Telegraaf in Holland are reporting this morning that Ajax are in a split over Chelsea’s bid for Jorrel Hato. The Blues are NOT offering more than €41m. Ajax can’t risk Chelsea calling off the deal given the club’s bleak financial situation.
Chelsea taking a tough stance on this one and they clearly know that Ajax have to sell and also know that they have full player buy in and he’s doing all he can to push the move through as well. So they are sticking to their valuation and they clearly believe they will agree the fee for what they want to pay.
It’s a tough stance and a risk, but let’s see if it will pay off.
Talks are still at a very advanced stage so the expectations are that it will get done. But Chelsea are just trying to do these deals fully on their terms.
It’s the reason they walked from the Mike Maignan deal earlier in the window. Maybe they go back for him, but at that time they were not paying what AC Milan were demanding and they walked from it stating ‘they will not have their pants pulled down in negotiations anymore’ to me when I asked about it.
