August 2025 With Valentin Pavageau

A new month calls for a fresh Designer Desktop, and this one is out of this world. This month, Valentin Pavageau takes us to another dimension, one painted in radiant gradients and quiet wonder. The French digital artist is known for his surreal dreamscapes, where color becomes terrain and a solitary figure becomes your guide. Hypnotic patterns contrast with soothing washes of color, while his architectural compositions leave plenty of negative space for your eyes to wander and your thoughts to linger.

Like many of his works, this month’s design, Lost In Psychedelia, evokes a sense of vastness, created by the scale of the lone protagonist set against sweeping, open space. Awash in texture and saturated color, it’s a desktop that feels less like background noise and more like an invitation to pause your task and take a meditative moment.

An illustration of a building with classical architecture and a large, gradient-colored rectangular structure emerging from its roof, surrounded by small groups of people

A person lies on a surface with undulating black and white wavy stripes, creating an optical illusion effect

A small person stands before a large orange structure with a colorful wheel, set on a wavy patterned ground against a black background

Three people walk together in silhouette against a vibrant, gradient background transitioning from red to green to dark hues

A person sits on the edge of a ledge, high above ground, with tall vertical black lines creating an abstract building against a pink and orange gradient sky
