Johnny Fisher has joined Tony Sims at the Matchroom Gym
Johnny Fisher (13-1, 10 KOs) has joined Conor Benn’s trainer Tony Sims at the Matchroom Boxing Gym as he attempts to rebuild his boxing career after his recent loss.
Fisher had previously been trained by Mark Tibbs since his pro debut. Together, they won the Southern Area and WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight titles.
When ‘The Romford Bull’ stepped up in levels to take on Dave Allen, he came unstuck. The 26-year-old was very fortunate to be gifted a win in the their first meeting in December 2024, despite being dropped in the fifth round by ‘The White Rhino’.
Two of the judges awarded the win to Fisher, while the third scored it 96-93 to Allen.
Eager to prove he was the deserved winner, the Essex fighter rushed straight into a rematch and was beaten conclusively this time, KO’d in the fifth round.
Fisher stated, “After an amazing 5 years with Mark Tibbs, it’s time for some fresh challenges in my boxing career. A new gym and a new trainer to help take me forward.
“I will always be grateful for everything I learnt from Mark. Mark and Jimmy will always hold a special place for me.
“Looking forward to training in the new gym and starting a new chapter in my young boxing career.”
