Food has always been an essential connection to culture and identity. In this video, I take a train journey home emotionally and physically to explore the deep ties between Haitian cuisine, heritage, and health. I spoke with Dr. Magalie Limage, a pediatrician with roots in Haiti and New York, who helped me better understand how food is connected to our culture and well-being. Dr. Limage shares her expertise on the intersections of health and Haitian identity.
To bring this video closer to home, I turned to my father, who immigrated to the United States when he was young. His personal experiences add a unique perspective to the story. Culture, food, and resilience help bridge the past with the present and honor one’s heritage through cuisine.
This journey has expanded my appreciation for the connections between food, identity, and health.
