With the number of privacy booths on the market, it can be difficult for specifiers to choose which ones are ideal in open workspaces, where separation and personal comfort are essential. At this year’s edition of Clerkenwell Design Week, British manufacturer Kabin showcased Kabin 1, Kabin 2, and Kubby.
Each of these distinct yet connected products support different styles of work, and provide respite within corporate settings. “Kabin creates intentional space where people can feel calm, think clearly, and reconnect with themselves – even in the busiest environments,” says Walter Craven, CEO of Kabin.
Drawing inspiration from premium airline seating, Kabin 1 is a single-person pod. Designed for employee focus and creativity, it pairs ergonomics with advanced features that respond to a user’s moods and day-to-day needs. A glass panel front maintains visual connection while still ensuring discretion. The Kabin Control digital interface offers Bluetooth audio and ambient customization. Once inside the unit, an individual can easily adjust airflow, dim the lighting, reposition the articulating surface, or just simply relax.
Similar in style and form to Kabin 1, Kabin 2 is a pod for two, with close yet comfortable seating that encourages real conversation. Warm acoustic panels help reduce noise, and the interior fosters a sense of openness. In this unit colleagues can build trust, share ideas, and interact without the typical distractions of a busy office.
Kubby is a personal alcove for one with an open front. This slimmer booth boasts soft curves, integrated power, lighting, and a thoughtful seat-and-surface combo. It is the perfect spot for a gentle reset or in-between moments where clarity and calm matter most.
Made of laser-cut, powder-coated sheet metal walls and Grain upholstery fabric by Gabriel, the colors of each Kabin range from Onyx to Cashmere. This year the company also introduced enhancements that bring even more functionality and personalization to the trio. With the new Mobility Kit, users can effortlessly move a model to any area to form new layouts or redesign a space quickly. Manifestation Glass offers custom privacy levels and aesthetic identity options, while still letting in enough light. And the brand’s Customizable Carpet allows teams to express themselves via an array of colors, textures, and words on Bolon flooring.
