Puerto Rico Art News writes: Nathan Budoff is a Puerto Rican painter, muralist, and printmaker from Massachusetts whose works frame the relationships between flora, fauna, and space in unexpected ways: mammals mingle with colossal crustaceans in abstract fields of color. Wide-eyed rodents become the compositional foundation for aquatic landscapes. Bewildered penguins float among the jungle’s feline kings. Inspired by Puerto Rico’s vibrant community art scene, Budoff creates works from a holistic understanding of ecological hierarchies. As Earth’s ecosystems teeter on the brink of collapse, Budoff creates works that encourage us to observe the environments we inhabit with a fresh perspective and an appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
