Easy Spicy Slaw – Haitian Pikliz Recipe You’ll Want on Everything ✨
Growing up in Haiti, food was the heart of our culture — and oh, how I miss it.
Today I’m making pikliz, a spicy Haitian slaw we eat with everything.
I love it fresh on eggs, sandwiches… you name it, it’s on there.
Crunchy, spicy, full of flavor — and gut-friendly too.
It’s so worth the try!

INGREDIENTS
• 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
• 4–5 carrots, shredded
• 1 red onion, thinly sliced
• 1/3 cup white vinegar
• 1/3 cup avocado oil
• 2 Scotch bonnet peppers (or any spicy pepper you have — add more if you like it extra hot)
• Salt to taste

DIRECTIONS
1. Use a mandoline or knife to thinly slice the cabbage and onion.
2. Shred the carrots using a grater or food processor.
3. Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix well.
4. Transfer to a glass jar or mason jar and press down gently.
5. Store in the fridge — it gets better as it sits and lasts for weeks!
