Bois Caïman’s 234th Anniversary Celebration
Message from the Prime Minister’s Office :
“234 years ago, in the dead of night, amidst the flickering glow of torches and the fervor of an oppressed people, the Oath of Bois Caïman was sealed. This pact of unity and courage would ignite the struggle for freedom and lead, thirteen years later, to the birth of the first independent Black Republic.
On this August 14, the Prime Minister’s Office salutes this legacy, which remains one of the most powerful symbols of our history. At a time when our Nation is going through major challenges, this spirit of unity, determination, and sacrifice must once again become our compass.
The Prime Minister’s Office calls on everyone to draw on this living memory to build, together, a secure, prosperous, and united Haiti, faithful to the values that shaped our independence. Long live the spirit of Bois Caïman. Long live the Republic of Haiti.”
