A number of political activists these days are talking about the importance of joy as an act of resistance and of its importance when it comes to self-care. And yet, it can sometimes feel a bit impossible to choose joy in the face of the daily onslaught, never mind feel it. So I haven’t been focussing on flower essences for joy very much, mostly instead on ones for dealing with horror, trauma, hopelessness, anxiety, and despair. However, I did note that I was internally guided to add Pine to a custom formula for myself. Pine is about letting go of guilt. And without so much guilt, I find that hope and joy are often the result. I guess I was feeling guilty about choosing to have fun. I also was guided to add Daffodil to a flower essence combo intended for soothing the feeling of having been traumatized by the news one day. Daffodil is specifically for bringing forward feelings of hope and joy. It seems counterintuitive when you feel traumatized—I picked and also included Star of Bethlehem and Lavender as my first choices. But is there really anything more rejuvenating than laughing and having fun? It worked really well.
It can be inspiring, too, to see people at a protest singing and dancing when the powers that have been unleashed seem intent on tearing us all down. Finding your joy feels empowering. Help yourself find some in my Etsy shop!

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
