Social Mobilization can be defined as a collaborative approach to community development, that equitably involves all partners in the developmental process and recognizes the unique strengths that each brings.
It is an integrative process whereby stakeholders are stimulated to become active participants in social change using diverse strategies to meet shared goals.

In relation to public health it can be defined as a process of participatory action involving health workers, community members, stakeholders and policy makers, for the purpose of improve the determinants of health in a community.

Community diagnosis is the foundation for improving and promoting the health of a community.

Community can be defined as groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity, special interest, or similar situations.

According to WHO(1994), Community Diagnosis is a quantitative and qualitative description of the health of citizens and the factors which influence their health. It defines problems, proposes areas for improvement and stimulates action.

Community diagnosis is a comprehensive assessment of the health status of the community in relation to its social, physical and biological environment.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Is the process of working collaboratively with and through groups of people affiliated by geographic proximity, special interest, or similar situations to address issues affecting the well-being of those people.
It is a powerful vehicle for bringing about environmental and behavioral changes that will improve the health of the community and its members.
It often involves partnerships and coalitions that help mobilize resources and influence systems, change relationships among partners, and serve as catalysts for changing policies, programs, and practices (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 1997, p.9).
