Accurate cause-of-death reporting helps countries plan public health and education efforts, respond to pandemics and protect communities.

In most Pacific countries, cause-of-death reporting remains inadequate. Medical practitioners from across the North Pacific gathered in Guam to develop their skills in accurately recording deaths—a key step in building stronger civil registration and vital statistics (#CRVS) systems.

Ms Catherine P. Angcao, Guam’s Chief Public Health Officer, explains how information collected at the end of life helps serve and strengthen communities.

🤝 Supported by the Bloomberg Philanthropies #Data4Health Initiative, SPC’s CRVS programme aims to boost regional coordination like this and support global efforts to ‘get every one in the picture’.
