I used to grow Borage in my garden. It’s an interesting plant that acts pretty droopy at first. The buds hang down as if they’re too heavy to hold up. But then, as the buds open and the plant begins to flower, the stems stiffen and very lovely five-pointed star flowers rise until they look up at the sky. And when that happens, they start to turn pink (the color most associated with the heart).
Quite the journey and it echoes pretty succinctly what Borage flower essence can do for you! If you have the blues, feel discouraged and downhearted, emotionally drooping because the world or your life feels like such a heavy place, Borage can lift your heart and bring the courage to face a new day.
The name Borage comes from the Latin name Borago, a corruption of corago which means “I bring heart” or “courage.” It has a long folk history for that purpose. Supposedly Roman soldiers drank borage wine before going into battle and it was used in the Middle Ages for a similar purpose. As an herb, Borage was thought to dispel sadness or melancholy. As a flower essence it is also used for this purpose and to bring renewed confidence and courage. It helps you take heart in difficult circumstances. Perhaps you could use some now!

Flower essences are used to assist with mind-body-spirit interactions and individual results may vary. They are extremely dilute which makes them quite safe. But because so little physical substance can be detected in a flower essence solution, these products are presumed to work on an energetic or vibrational level—something that cannot be adequately tested by western scientific methods. Claims made by me, therefore, are based on personal experiences and the evidence of the combined multiple decades of case notes by Dr. Edward Bach as well as Healing Herbs and Flower Essence Services (the companies who make the ingredients I use in my products). This is not, however, accepted medical evidence or substantiated scientific evidence from a modern allopathic point of view. I am not a medical doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner.
