A school in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram has introduced India’s first humanoid AI teacher, Iris. Developed by Makerlabs edutech and built under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) project initiated by NITI Aayog, this generative AI robot boasts a range of features including an Intel processor aimed at revolutionizing traditional teaching methods.
Iris can move, interact, and answer questions, covering subjects from nursery to Class 12 in English, Hindi, and Malayalam, with plans for over 20 languages.
Launched at KTCT Higher Secondary School and inaugurated by Dr. K Rajeev, Director of the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) of VSSC – Indian Space Research Organization, Iris is adored by students, promising a future where education means interacting and growing with technology.
