Dentons Rodyk has hired Kai Yun Wong as a senior partner in its family and matrimonial practice to strengthen the firm’s cross-border offerings and better support clients globally.
“She [Wong] is well-placed to address our clients’ needs in complex cross-border divorces and family disputes, and with her litigation background, she can also advise on structuring arrangements at the outset to mitigate the consequences of potential disputes,” Gerald Singham, Dentons global vice-chair and Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) chief executive officer, told Asia Business Law Journal.
Wong, who will join the firm on 16 October, has been a co-managing director at Chia Wong Chambers since 2019. She also serves as president of the Asia-Pacific chapter of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, a global network of family law practitioners. Additionally, she is a registered practitioner with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and is accredited as a mediator with both the Singapore Mediation Centre and the Singapore International Mediation Institute.
With more than two decades of experience in family law, Wong specialises in advising on matrimonial matters involving high-net-worth individuals and expatriates, with a practice spanning cross-border divorce, financial settlements, and estate and succession planning.
The firm’s high-net-worth clients had diverse cross-border opportunities to establish family arrangements, businesses and wealth structures, said Singham.
He added that Wong was an excellent addition to the firm as she had a sterling reputation in family and matrimonial law, estate and succession planning involving high-net-worth individuals. She was an internationally recognised family lawyer, and was reputed for her strategic and efficient client representation, said Singham.
