If you’re interested in digital health tracking, you might have devices like a smartwatch, dedicated sleep tracker, smart scale, and so on. But Withings, known for its ScanWatch and other health-tracking devices, wants to bring everything together. Even more interesting? It wants to do so with a mirror. The Withings Omnia smart mirror showcases a digital health concept that could make health and fitness tracking a little more cohesive.
At its core, the Withings Omnia is another iteration of Withings’ smart scales, offering the tech necessary to track things like weight and body composition, and to conduct ECG tests to check for atrial fibrillation. It can use that data to analyze various health metrics and give you a better idea of your fitness trends over time.
All that tech is located in the base of the Omnia, but perhaps much more interesting is the full-length mirror that extends up from that base. This isn’t your average mirror, instead serving as a digital display that can show information related to your health. That information can be tracked from the smart scale tech itself, or from other apps and services, all hooked up to Withings for a much deeper picture of your health.
The mirror has an AI assistant built into it that lets you ask questions about your health, and to offer information in an easy-to-understand way. And, Withings’ vision is that it would integrate with a database of doctors, allowing you to book appointments straight from the mirror itself.
The Omnia remains a concept for now, but it’s not hard to imagine its technology making its way into a consumer-ready product. Much of what it promises already exists: Withings’ smart scale tech is widely available, and under-mirror displays, while futuristic-looking, aren’t entirely new. The ecosystem already syncs with platforms like Apple Health, which similarly aims to centralize wellness data. What truly sets Omnia apart, however, is the potential of its AI assistant – designed to interpret your health information in a way that’s both easy to understand and genuinely useful.
Withings may not be selling the Omnia just yet, but it’s a glimpse of how health tech can become both smarter and sleeker.
