The September 23rd edition of WWE NXT saw TNA stars make their presence felt during the main event and officially kickstart an invasion angle. Following their appearance, WWE’s long-term plans for the invasion arc has been revealed.
According to Fightful Select, this isn’t just a one-off crossover but the start of a long-term storyline involving both promotions. TNA is currently building toward its Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 12 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Interestingly, no television tapings have been announced immediately after that event.
Instead, TNA’s next scheduled dates are in November in Orlando, Florida, with no venue listed. This is believed to be intentional, as the NXT–TNA partnership could make it easier for TNA to tape multiple weeks of TV in the same area as WWE’s weekly NXT shows.
Sources also teased that fans should expect something unconventional from TNA programming after Bound For Glory. While details aren’t known, speculation is that some TNA tapings may take place inside the WWE Performance Center and may not appear on standard ticketing sites.
The collaboration is expected to grow even more on WWE programming, with hints of an expanded NXT presence in upcoming shows. Tuesday’s NXT episode even featured surprise returns, though some talent was deliberately kept off TV at WWE’s request.
Another major development is that WWE Hall of Famers and TNA World Tag Team Champions Jeff and Matt Hardy have been pitched for potential roles in this ongoing NXT–TNA invasion storyline.
It’s pretty clear that WWE and TNA want to make sure this invasion angle will be one of the best storylines in recent memory. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see if they will be successful in their endeavor in good time.
