The iPhone Fold is now being tested with an under-display camera

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is due to make its debut in late 2026 or 2027, and today a new rumor from Korea purports to spill the beans on the current state of the engineering prototypes.

Thus, the iPhone Fold is said to have a cover display with a hole-punch selfie camera. The inner, folding screen, on the other hand, interestingly, has an under-display selfie camera, like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6.

Apple’s foldable also sports a side-mounted Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and there’s no support for Face ID. The screen sizes have shrunk ever so slightly compared to the previous prototype, but their resolutions and aspect ratios have remained the same.

Undoubtedly, Apple still has a lot of time to nail the exact specifications it wants for the iPhone Fold, so a lot of this can (and probably will) change in the future. But it’s interesting to see the company going the under-display camera route nevertheless.

A previous rumor told us that Apple is focusing on minimizing the folding screen’s crease, as well as equipping the iPhone Fold with a much higher-quality hinge than any of its competitors.
