Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has deservedly won both the club’s Fans’ Player of the Year award and Players’ Player of the Year trophy.
In what has been an horrendous season for the Red Devils collectively, the captain has often stood alone as the most consistent performer in the side.
The winning of the awards means he has now drawn level with Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea as a four time winner of the Player of the Season award.
Despite his team’s general lack of clarity in front of goal, Fernandes has still managed an incredible 19 goals and 19 assists in 55 matches this season.
Moreover, it isn’t just his goal contributions but also his ability to stay fit that draws such admiration from legions of United fans.
The Portuguese magician is much more than goals however, and statistics reported by Statman Dave highlight just how he is the heart, brain and soul of this United side.
Fernandes has shone in the United attack all season as he is the player with the most passes and also the most into the final third of the pitch.
Despite playing a significant chunk of the season in a midfield two, he is still the United player with most touches and passes in the final third of the pitch.
His creativity can also be witnessed by the fact he leads the side with the most progressive passes and passes into the penalty area.
It is scary to think how good his statistics would have been had he not been forced to play with a woefully out of form Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho all season.
To build on his impressive array of attacking statistics, he has also created the most chances, played the most through balls and finally, had the most shot-creating actions.
The captain has also taken the most shots in all competitions as he has taken the responsibility time and time again to bail his side out of trouble.
This would all be impressive enough but his leadership goes beyond his attacking displays.
He has also amazingly won possession more than any other player in Ruben Amorim’s side and had the most ball recoveries despite often playing in more advanced positions.
