Ys Vs Trails In The Sky: Alternative Saga Arrives In The West This Summer

Nihon Falcom, pioneers in action RPGs and known for having a considerable amount of the best music in video game history, has announced that the crossover fighter starring it’s two biggest franchises will finally be officially localized, and published, by refint/games (A small and newer publisher, who will also be localizing the Touhou SMT-style Dungeon RPG Touhou: Artificial Dreams in Arcadia, much to this contributor’s pleased astonishment) in the west after first releasing in Japan in 2010.

Now, if you’re familiar with Trails in particular, you’ll be looking at that release date and trying to figure out when exactly, considering it’s considerable rise in popularity and proliferation in both titles and characters since, what the roster will entail. To clarify, the timeframe means that the latest character from both series is Lloyd Banning who had actually yet to debut in Trails From Zero at the time of it’s original release, and whose inclusion gives Trails a mild numbers advantage in representation, with eight for Ys and none for Trails with Lloyd’s introduction. This does not include characters from various other Falcom titles who will function more as support in the game, which hews closer to Power Stone than it does to the King of Fighters series in terms of gameplay mechanics. Also included in this upcoming release? Rollback netcode, which basically means ‘ideally as close to playing next to each other on the couch as possible’, crossplay between consoles and PC, and full voice acting.

Unfortunately, no proper release date, just a release window of this Summer, but it’ll release on PS4/PS5, Xbox, and PC when that specific detail is finalized.

Are you as happily surprised to see this releasing overseas officially? How do you feel about Ys and the Trails series or Falcom in general? Please, let us know below!
