Simply pull the top flap up from the body of the bag, and the interior is revealed – release the top flap, and it snaps shut, no hardware required. So simple it seems like it should exist already, this is the magic of Nik Bentel Studio: the unexpected and the ironic converge, expertly wrought and always topical.
White Circle is a dreamy mohair exploration by Danish fiber artist LibeKBH, her whimsical and color-forward vision lending an unabashed delight to her work. I find it necessary to step back and listen when you really like something, and there is an indescribable coalescence of biomimicry and pop art in her work that is approachable, yet also elevated.
Artist Mulgil Kim eloquently pulls upon her Korean heritage and an illustrative sense of iconography, subverting objects we interact with every day and putting them in places that change perspective. This narrative, along with a mesmerizing use of brushwork – thousands of blades of grass working together to form her rippling compositions – that takes Kim’s work to the next level, wit and wonder at play.

While it starts off as a sparkling San Pellegrino in the sunshine, Grapefruit Generation dries down to be a nicely balanced, woody scent. The longevity and sillage leave a bit to be desired, but also is quite expected for such a delicate, fresh profile. With white floral notes rounding out the middle notes and an interesting base note of cork, any scant whiff through the smog of NYC summer is rare but incredibly welcome.
