The 20th Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium – Repeating Islands

    The Ernest Hemingway Museum at the Finca Vigía, in coordination with the National Council of Cultural Heritage, will host the 20th Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium in Havana, Cuba, from June 25-28, 2025. [The museum is located at Calle Vigía s/n e/ Steinhart y Santos, San Francisco de Paula, San Miguel del Padrón, Havana.]

    Ernest Hemingway lived in Cuba from 1939-1959 at the Finca Vigía, his home in the village of San Francisco de Paula near Havana.     As ACN (Cuba News Agency) writes, “the event will feature the presentation of research works made by scholars, academicians, university professors, and Cuban and foreign writers―including eight papers prepared by participants from Japan, Argentina, Canada and the United States―in addition to a digital version of the novel The Sun Also Rises and La Habana de Hemingway y otros relatos, by renowned Cuban journalist and essayist Ciro Bianchi Ross.”

    At the colloquium, Michael Connors will present “The Spanish Influences in Finca Vigía, the World’s Only Ernest Hemingway Living Museum.” Dr. Connors writes, “Join me in Havana, Cuba and explore the former home of Ernest Hemingway, where the legendary author wrote some of his greatest works. Nestled in the hills outside Havana, Finca Vigía offers a rare glimpse into Hemingway’s life, complete with original manuscripts, personal belongings, and unforgettable views.
