Tyson Fury is clearly backing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to beat Jake Paul
YouTuber Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) faces former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez (54-6-1, 34 KOs) on Saturday, June 28, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, live on DAZN.
“The Gypsy King” took to X to wish the Mexican good luck against his brother’s long-term rival.
Fury wrote: “Get up there, viva Mexico! All the best boys, I hope the training has gone well, and I hope Chavez is doing good. Can’t do any more than train your b******s off in the gym and put the work in and go in there and get the job done.
“Man’s a former WBC middleweight world champion, son of a legend, so he can do his best, that it, do your best, put on a show, go in there and get paid and get put of there, that’s what I say. All the best, good luck.”
Jake Paul lost to Tyson’s younger half-brother Tommy Fury in 2023. “TNT” Tommy won most of the rounds comfortably, but was knocked down in the last round to make the result a split decision. It was a very scrappy fight, with a distinct lack of skill and boxing ability on display.
Tommy Fury was the first professional boxer Paul had fought and has since only fought two more active pro boxers.
Paul’s last fight was against 58-year-old Mike Tyson, last November, which inevitably ended in victory for the “The Problem Child.” After almost 20 years retired, Mike Tyson was only really able to compete for the first rounds, then exhaustion set in and he wasn’t able to even land a punch in a few of the later rounds.
Now, 28-year-old Paul is fighting a former world champion that is 11 years older at 39 and has fought just once in three-and-a-half-years.
