Holland America Line’s ships Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam are about to become TV stars. The vessels will be featured on a new eight-part TV series called “Supercruising: Life at Sea.”

The show will be produced by British production company Crackit TV and air on UK public network Channel 4. It will follow the lives of guests and crew aboard the two ships across three voyages in the Caribbean, South America, North Africa, and the Canary Islands. Each hour-long episode will bring viewers below deck to see what it takes to operate a passenger cruise ship around the clock. The cameras will also follow along as guests take shore excursions while in port.

“The series will take viewers on a journey to some of the world’s most beautiful places but also giving them insight into all the hard work it takes to deliver the holiday of a lifetime to thousands of guests,” said commissioning editor Deborah Dunnett.

Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam are both part of Holland America’s Pinnacle-class, and debuted in 2018 and 2021, respectively.

Karen Farndell, Holland America’s UK director of sales and marketing, said that the program came at a “timely” moment for the line, as cameras captured its first season departing from the UK in a decade.

The first episode of “Supercruisers: Life at Sea” will air on Channel 4 on July 3, 2025. Channel 4 is accessible to viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland — it’s not known whether it will be available to stream in other parts of the world, though here in the U.S. at the time of writing, I am able to view the series webpage here.
