As promised, Sony has returned to confirm exactly when we’re all going to be getting our next look at Ghost of Yotei gameplay. The last time the publisher spoke of the game was a little over a month ago; in the middle of summer events season.
At the time, we got a brief trailer for the action RPG, alongside confirmation that more will be revealed later in July. We’re well past the first week of July now, and we won’t have to wait too much longer to see more of the game.
A State of Play livestream entirely dedicated to Ghost of Yotei is scheduled for this Thursday, July 10. This gameplay deep dive show will run for about 20 minutes, and offer a look at a wide range of the game’s systems and mechanics.
Hosted by Sucker Punch’s Jason Connell and Nate Fox – the game’s creative directors – the showcase will tackle the thrust of the sequel’s narrative, Atsu’s quest, as well as her new weapons. We’re also promised a look at “new ways to personalize your journey”.
The announcement also hints at new modes coming with Ghost of Yotei, which could be referring to a potential evolution of the popular Legends co-op mode from the first game, Ghost of Tsushima. It could also be something along the lines of the original game’s Kurosawa mode, which ended up being something of a novelty that changes the look of the game to resemble classic Samurai movies by the legendary Japanese director.
All of that and more will be revealed in what looks to be a packed showcase. It will be streamed live at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, 10pm BST, and 11pm CEST on the official PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels – both of which are embedded below.
Ghost of Yotei arrives October 2 on PS5.
